The Coracle trustees
The Coracle trustees help turn the Trust's vision into reality. Their experience and expertise in their respective fields has helped us set up the structures that allow the Trust to operate. They have already proved invaluable to the Trust's development and have put in a lot of hours of work. Here are brief introductions, in alphabetical order:
Andy Davis
Andy Davis is our treasurer as well as a trustee. He previously worked for Bethany Christian Trust and the NHS and now as an accountant at the University of Edinburgh. He has been a regular part of the Two Halves of Life group since it's beginning in 2007 and attends St Paul's and St George's Episcopal church. Andy became a father in January of 2009 and is a most welcome addition to this group of trustees.
Duncan MacLaren
Duncan MacLaren is Rector of St James Episcopal Church in Leith. He has worked in ordained ministry in the Anglican church since 1994, in Oxford and Edinburgh. His academic interests include the sociology of religion, and aspects of pastoral theology. He is a spiritual director trained in the Ignatian tradition. In his ideal world, he would go sailing a lot more often. He is married with three children.
Gus MacLeod (Chair)
Gus MacLeod is Senior Policy Officer: learning, governance and sustainability at the Scottish Funding Council for Further and Higher Education. He is also a counsellor, spiritual director and massage therapist. Gus enjoys hospitality - giving and receiving! Gus helps with guiding the Two Halves of Life group along with Andrew and Kirsty Hook.
Jane Denniston
Jane is a Ministries Support Office with the Ministries Council of the Church of Scotland. Ordained in 2002, she worked in congregational development with the Board of Parish Education before moving to her present role in which she is responsible for organizing training for all those accepted as candidates for the diaconal ministry or the ministry of Word and Sacrament in the Church of Scotland. She has a particular interest in liturgy and in the theology of sexuality. Jane's hobbies include painting, reading and sewing, and anything 'crafty'. She is married and has three children.
Margaret Hanson
Margaret is a member of the Coracle Trust group, and became a trustee early in 2003. She attends St Jame's Episcopal Church, Leith. She works as an ergonomist – you need to ask her! – and enjoys cycling, camping and the Greenbelt arts festival.
Mary Kernohan
Mary Kernohan joined the Coracle Trustees in 2008. She enjoys sharing and growing alongside those involved in the Coracle Ministry as well as the wider community. Mary has lived and worked in Kenya and Japan, travelled widely, spent a decade working in fundraising and latterly the private sector. She is a mother of two children and enjoys running and hillwalking. She attends the City of Edinburgh Methodist Church and also the Motherhood and Theology group.
Peter Nielsen
Peter is a well known figure in the Church of Scotland, most recently for his role in developing the 'Church Without Walls' report, ministry to the business community and church planting within Edinburgh's club culture.
