Coracle Trust E-Reflections

E-Reflections: Introduction

Friday 1 January 2010

At the start of the new year we embark on our first set of E-Reflections, on the topic of Beginnings and Endings. These will be brief and hopefully evocative.

They will be weekly word and image based meditations expressing our desire to foster reflective practice in a daily life often mobbed with urgent and demanding voices. My Tufty Club’s* motto of STOP. LOOK. LISTEN comes to mind!

Stay with it

Rowan Williams refers to prayer as allowing the life and love of Jesus to well up within us and gently points to the need to ‘stay with it’ and not move on too swiftly. Therefore these will be weekly rather than daily meditations so that we may have sufficient leeway to go to and return to any words or images that may have struck a chord, and that we may allow something to simmer away deep within us.

Stilling

We hope to upgrade to offering an audio facility and in true advent style will wait in hope and with patience for its coming.  In the meantime you may like to start and end your reflections with a short stilling exercise which brings you into the present, now moment.  This could be through attentiveness to your breathing (see pray-as-you-go.org for example) or a short prayer such as ‘I am here. You are here. Let’s meet/join/talk/be/be together.’

Questions

You may also like to consider reflecting on:

What questions do I have
What questions am I being asked?

The intention is that these will be seasonal reflections, coming to an end and then restarting for another cycle.

An email will be sent out alerting those on the database to each week’s fresh postings. So contact us with your email address if you wish to be informed in this manner.
