Lent: A Given Life
Saturday 9 April 2011
Some asked the world and are diminished in the receiving of it. You gave me only this small pool that the more I drink from, the more overflows me with sourceless light. The gift, R S Thomas

Read John 6: 60-70 and return. Have you ever encountered a newly born baby? If so, what impact did the baby’s presence have on you?
Receiving beauty and vulnerability
Those first few days of being at home with a new baby can have a deeply sacramental quality to them. A new life has come in all its sacredness and messiness, captivating beauty and utter vulnerability. We may be called upon to complete many tasks to nurture the new life. Alongside this, a sense of awe, wonder and reverence may grow within us, humbling and gently quietening us. The gift of life is before our eyes, held in our hands. Jesus’ life is a given life, given to and for us. Consider how you might receive this gift more deeply... Jane Edwards (Two Halves of Life group)
