Lent: Hide and Seek
Thursday 17 March 2011
Love bade me welcome: yet my soul drew back, Guilty of dust and sin. But quick-ey'd Love, observing me grow slack, From my first entrance in, Drew nearer to me, sweetly questioning, If I lack'd anything. George Herbert, Love III

Watch the movements
Watch the movements - the ebb and flow of light and love. The ocean tide of God’s love comes in to cover the rock-strewn beach till old wounds and gashes are washed by the rhythms of the eternal heart-beat. “God so loved the world that he gave……” The human heart recoils in fear, assuming condemnation and rejection. Hiding from the one who seeks us. Hardly daring to seek the One whose face is masked and marred by our own shadows. What if he sees us as we really are! And so we hide – like a child’s illusory hiding place behind her little hands clutched over her face.
Rest in the moment
Rest in the moment. “God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through him.” The face of God is washed clean of our smears. He smiles. We are surprised. Peter Neilson (Trustee, Chair)
