Lord, you have released me. With a word you have set me free and I am transformed. Jane Denniston

Read John 5: 1 - 18 and return Lord, you have released me. With a word you have set me free and I am transformed. I was controlled hindered by shackles of circumstance by fetters of my condition. And you saw me. You saw where I had manacled myself to my past restrained by guilt or regret. And also where I was a casualty of the random touch of fate which harms and hurts without prejudice. You saw me and you spoke a word into my condition, whether self-inflicted or imposed by the vagaries of chance. And so I lay down the burden of guilt and walk away from past regrets and I am light of foot and of heart. And I take up the burden of activity freed from restraint from the limits of my hurts and wounds. I am enlightened and in being enlightened I am free to take up my cross, the burden which you have created for me, the tailored yoke whose perfect fit is no burden after all. Lord, you have released me. With a word you have set me free and I am transformed. I am both forgiven and commissioned. I will take up my mat, my burden, my cross and I will walk with you.
