Coracle Trust E-Reflections
Life is rarely lived in a straight line
Tuesday 23 February 2010
We have started Lent. We are on the road towards the cross and a renewal. Even if Jesus knew where this path might or would take him there were twists and turns on the way.
The journey of a winding line
Cultivate a relationship with the unknown, create a friendship with what lies around the corner, over the horizon; with those things that have not yet come into being.
- David Whyte, poet
We have started Lent. We are on the road towards the cross and a renewal. Even if Jesus knew where this path might or would take him there were twists and turns on the way.
We are not party to what’s round the corner. We are not in control.
We might like to level deep ravines and be warned of blind summits and earnestly strive to make a straight way for ourselves but this furious attempt to straighten what is curved is futile.
Faith is in the journey and that journey must be taken in trust. It seems that a lightness or a detachment from knowing fully is required of us, allowing the slow shaping of trust.
