St. Abbs Head Nature Reserve: A senses day trip
Saturday, 4 June 2011 | Arrive by 10.30am, leaving c. 5pm
Is that your son? Could that be the silent, dour George? He's saying his creed. Joy! Beauty! Joy...! He's declaring the eternal "yes". From A Room with a View by E.M.Foster.The eternal Yes
We aim to join our 'Yes's to George's, singing our creeds along with the birds, the waves and the swishing grass. Here is a day trip to St. Abbs Head Nature Reserve offered through the Senses group. Swirling winds, crashing waves and raucous birdscreeches. It's a gorgeous place both dramatic and pastoral, restful yet also an assault on the senses. Stacks and cliffs, a lighthouse, a wee loch, bumps and hollows, a wall garden and boat house are thrown in too. This will also be a particularly good time for sighting nesting seabirds. For more photos click here, especially Ronnie Leask's! All are welcome - it's a good day for kids and the walk is not long. The exuberant response of creation
Right at the crest, where Mount Olives begins its descent, the whole crowd of disciples burst into enthusiastic praise over all the mighty works they had witnessed: Blessed is he who comes, the king in God's name! All's well in heaven! Glory in the high places! Some Pharisees from the crowd told him, "Teacher, get your disciples under control!" But he said, "If they kept quiet, the stones would do it for them, shouting praise." Luke 19To read how this outing went click here.
