Advent: 8th December - Beautiful inside and out
Posted Friday 08 December 2006
James Tissot, The Annunciation
Not your normal wake up call, from an angel. And one with a startling greeting.
Opening prayer
Bless to me, O God, The earth beneath my foot, Bless to me, O God, The path whereon I go. Garmina Gadelica
The story continues…
Upon entering, Gabriel greeted her: Good morning! You're beautiful with God's beauty, inside and out! God be with you. (Luke 1:28)
Silence and Imaginative exercise
Imagine yourself in the story. Who are you? Cycle through your senses. What do you see, touch, taste, hear and smell? (8 minutes?)
Activity
Question put to old Russian peasant, sitting quietly, 'What are you doing?' 'Looking at Jesus', he replied. 'What's Jesus doing?' 'Looking at me' smiled the man. Receive and return the gentle gaze of Jesus.
Closing Blessing
Be a bright flame before me, Be a guiding star above me, Be a smooth path below me, And be a kindly shepherd behind me, To-day, to-night, and for ever. Garmina Gadelica To print out a pdf copy click here.
