O Antiphon: Emmanuel, God with us

Therefore the Lord himself will give you a sign. Look, the young woman is with child and shall bear a son, and shall name him Immanuel." Isaiah 7:14 Video: O Come O Come Emmanuel, Advent hymn based on the O Antiphons

The story continues…

A Saviour has just been born in David's town, a Saviour who is Messiah and Master. This is what you're to look for: a baby wrapped in a blanket and lying in a manger." (Luke 2:11-12)

Silence and Imaginative exercise

This may seem a funny way for God to ‘be with us’: a baby wrapped in blanket and lying in a manger. Maybe it’s easy to move off this image of God once shorn of its Christmas scenery. What enduring message is there for me in this picture of God? Helplessness, dependent, humble, non-threatening?

Closing Blessing

Be a bright flame before me, Be a guiding star above me, Be a smooth path below me, And be a kindly shepherd behind me, To-day, to-night, and for ever. Garmina Gadelica To print out a pdf copy click here.
