I'm not lost, but neither do I know where I am going!
So said one person at a two halves of life group. To what degree to we need to know where we are going? Is that where our energies go, predicting, assessing and determining paths and destinations. Does such a tight hold on life hide a deep seated desire in us to live without the need for grace? “We live by shedding” wrote the poet Robert Frost. We read Rebecca Solnit's account of a conquistador's experience of landing in Florida and getting lost and swamped by the terrain, losing companions, clothes and in the process something more.
