8th December - Receiving the gaze of love

December 8, 2010 Andrew Hook
560px-Shepherd_rus.jpg

Icon, Jesus the shepherd

Opening prayer

I rejoice with Mary and Joseph, I worship with the shepherds, I sing with the angels, I offer my gifts with the wise men. I receive the living Lord.

The story continues…

Upon entering, Gabriel greeted Mary: Good morning! You're beautiful with God's beauty, inside and out! God be with you. (Luke 1:28)

Silence and Imaginative exercise

Icons invite us to receive and return the gaze of the Christ, to know that we are seen, known and understood at our very centre, in depths of our soul. Receive and return the gentle gaze of Jesus. (8 minutes?)

Closing Blessing

May Christ Jesus look into your face with love, God the Creator spring to life within your being and the Holy Spirit be found in sacred places around you.
